Acting National Taxpayer Advocate (NTA) Bridget T. Roberts has now commented in a blog post on the IRS’s decision. The NTA noted that the Taxpayer Advocate Service (TAS) has advocated for the IRS to exclude taxpayers who were actively working with it to resolve their tax liabilities. The NTA also noted that taxpayers who were working with TAS felt pressured into agreeing to a payment plan that wasn’t affordable solely to avoid passport revocation.
